Cardlink, a Worldline brand, showcased its Live Innovative EV Charging Solutions
at the 5th Electric Vehicle Conference
The EV charging industry is rapidly emerging as one of the fastest-growing sectors across Europe, and Greece is rapidly accelerating, implementing various government incentives and investing heavily in charging infrastructure to promote electric vehicle adoption. Cardlink, part of Worldline (Euronext:WLN), a global leader in payment services, is playing a crucial role in this transition by developing innovative payment solutions for EV charging that enhance convenience for both businesses and consumers.
Cardlink recently introduced in the market cutting-edge offerings with its partners that are already productive. Cardlink was a sponsor at the 5th Electric Vehicle Conference, where its significant collaborations were showcased at a dedicated booth.
A major partnership presented was with Optechain, introducing a plug and play user-friendly payment solution that offers flexibility to drivers. Whether through a dedicated POS terminal at each charge point or a central payment kiosk for multiple chargers, drivers can effortlessly select the desired charging amount, enter their phone number, pay using their card, and receive their digital receipt on mobile.
To add more, during the event George Chatzigiannakis, Large Accounts & B2B Sales Manager, at Cardlink, announced that Worldline in Greece has formed an extended partnership with Optechain, Elpe Future, and Mastercard to revolutionize EV Charging Payments introducing a new holistic and inclusive EV charging@POS solution. The goal is to provide drivers with a truly smooth and interoperable charging experience.
Driven by a common goal to improve the Greek electric vehicle charging experience, EV Loader and Cardlink formed a significant partnership through the introduction made by Visa Innovation Program Europe. EV Loader is a company pioneering the development of the first open network of EV chargers in Greece and Southeast Europe. Based on feedback from over 5,000 drivers, a clear preference emerged for contactless payments and unified experience at charging stations. In response, Cardlink developed an unattended POS system that enables seamless, contactless payments via card, mobile wallet, or wearable devices.
At the event, George Chatzigiannakis, Large Accounts & B2B Sales Manager, at Cardlink took part in the panel discussion titled “Businesses’ Shift to E-mobility: Corporate Fleets, Charger Installations, and Case Studies.” During the discussion, he highlighted the latest advancements in payment technology for the EV sector and Cardlink’s ongoing efforts to simplify and enhance the EV charging experience. Mr. Chatzigiannakis emphasized how the company’s solutions are designed to integrate seamless payment technologies, making EV charging more convenient, accessible and inclusive for all drivers. He added that the company is committed to complying with international standards, including the European Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), which mandates faster, more accessible chargers with mandatory POS at fast-charging stations by October 2025.
More specifically, during his speech, he underlined: “At Cardlink,we are focused on making the EV charging process as seamless as possible. Whether through in-app payments, unattended POS systems, or smart kiosks that serve multiple chargers, we ensure that drivers can easily pay without hassle. Our collaboration with partners like Optechain and EV Loader allows us to offer instant, ad-hoc charging as a supplementary method to existing Charge Point Operation apps, making the process accessible to all.
