It is the verification of the identity during the online purchase of products or services with a card from an e-shop. It is valid within the European Union.
Strong authentication verifies the identity of the cardholder when making purchases in an e-commerce environment, using at least two methods:
- knowledge that only the cardholder knows, such as a secret code or the answer to a question that can be memorized
- possession, such as a sent message with a unique security code (SMS / Viber OTP) or the mobile phone number
- or some unique physical feature, such as his fingerprint.
Advise your customers to have their mobile phone nearby during the transaction, as they will not be able to complete their purchase otherwise. An alternative is a smart wearable (e.g., watch, bracelet, tablet, etc.).
