ACS lockers offer the ultimate self-service order picking experience with the ally of the unattended Cardlink IM30

The challenge

ACS, the leading courier company in Greece for more than 43 years, through the ACS Smartpoint Lockers service, has responded to the current self-service need for consumers who shop online, investing in the great potential of last mile and taking it one step further.

In order to continuously improve its services and provide a unique service experience to its customers, ACS is leading the way by providing them with an additional feature in its Lockers compared to the rest of the market. Self-service pickup through ACS’s “smart lockers” can also be provided with a cash on delivery option. In this way, customers can choose when to pay for their online order, either at the time of purchase, or at the time of pick-up, as would be the case if they had chosen courier delivery.

The design and implementation of this project was particularly challenging, as it had to be completed in a short timeframe, supported by weatherproof terminals and backed up by 24-hour remote support for lockers users.

 

The solution

 

Following their long-standing partnership, Cardlink, a Worldline brand, as a leading provider of technology and payment services, has once again provided ACS with the answer to its needs, enabling it to offer the innovation it envisioned for cash on delivery transactions at ACS Smartpoint Lockers, with ease and security.

Allied to the state-of-the-art unattended Android POS IM30, ACS Lockers offer the possibility of cash on delivery and payment in all ways, easily and with speed, without supervision and delays.

More specifically, the IM30 Android POS device was placed on the ACS Smartpoint Lockers which are located in approximately 193 major locations throughout Greece, such as supermarket chains, gas stations and other partner businesses, as well as outside ACS stores. Customers complete their transaction through the POS by paying with a card (card inserted or contactless), wallet or wearable and receive their parcel in just a few seconds!

The Cardlink POS IM30 uses the Android operating system, and offers an easy-to-use interface, making self-service transactions a simple process that enhances the consumer experience.

To facilitate smooth and continuous service, Cardlink, a Worldline brand, also provides dedicated support to resolve any technical issues, creating a seamless parcel collection experience from the “smart boxes” with 24/7 service from Cardlink’s expert team.

 

The implementation

 

Cardlink’s expert team implemented the installation and interconnection of 378 unattended terminals in ACS Smartpoint Lockers within a short time frame. The terminals have already been in operation for 2 years, having so far carried out more than 120,000 transactions.

Consumers now have the ability to receive their orders at the time and place they want, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, avoiding waiting at ACS stores, especially during peak periods and increased traffic, as well as possible delays that are often associated with home deliveries.
